Massachusetts Pistol Permit
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts will grant a "temporary license to carry a firearm" to an applicant from
another state who holds a pistol permit in his home state, has a Massachusetts State Police firearms safety certificate, and pays the $100 annual fee.
Application Process:
- Take an approved safety course from a Massachusetts State Police approved instructor. (Yes, we offer that!)
- Complete the 3 page Mass LTC application - Link to MSP Page

- Mail in with your bank check or money order for $100 and a copy of your home state permit to Criminal History Systems Board, Attn: Firearms Records Bureau, 200 Arlington St., Suite 2200, Chelsea, MA 02150.
- Enclose a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope
- Wait for them to contact you for your "personal interview" and to take your photograph and fingerprints.
- Go home and wait for your permit in the mail.
